      Runway-Ready Hotel Rooms
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor Sarah Gleim

      December 11, 2012

While Diane von Furstenberg-designed penthouse suites in Queensland were the talk of fashion circles this past fall, it wasn’t the first time a designer collaborated with a hotel. Other industry heavies like Oscar de la Renta, Armani and Christian Lacroix have all dressed up some of the finest suites. Our team curated a list of places designed by fashion’s biggest names in seven different locations. Read on to see which rooms are runway ready.

      DVF Penthouse, Hayman, Australia

The chic, two-bedroom Diane von Furstenberg Penthouse on the remote Hayman Island resort debuted at the end of October and is filled with contemporary furnishings, rugs, fabrics and accessories the fashion icon designed.

Tower Penthouse, SLS Hotel South Beach

Rocker-turned-designer Lenny Kravitz is just one of the two big-name designers at SLS Hotel South Beach. Kravitz’s Tower Penthouse is eclectic and inviting, and exudes a worldly charm through a mix of curated artwork, exotic leathers and hand-screened wallpaper in pewter and gold.

Dior Suite, The St. Regis New York

The glam Dior Suite at The St. Regis New York features the iconic Dior palette of warm grays, subtle pinks and soft whites throughout. The living room’s high ceilings, crown moldings, wainscoting and ornate crystal chandelier were chosen to evoke Christian Dior’s Avenue Montaigne headquarters in Paris.

      Hotel le Bellechasse, Paris

French fashion designer Christian Lacroix is known for his avant-garde style, and that’s exactly how he outfitted Hotel le Bellechasse on the Left Bank in Paris‘ St. Germain district. Each of the 34 rooms is designed around dramatic characters, figures and colors.

Bottega Veneta Suite, The St. Regis Rome

Fashion guru Tomas Maier designed the sleek and refined Bottega Veneta Suite at The St. Regis Rome. The clean and neutral color palette complements the main room’s mix of sophisticated Bottega Veneta furnishings.

Eloise Suite, The Plaza Hotel, New York

Thanks to funky fashion designer Betsey Johnson, little girls can channel Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star The Plaza Hotel’s most famous “resident,” Eloise. The New York hotel’s Eloise Suite is decked from top to bottom in—what else?—hot pink and black that’s fantastical enough to impress even the incorrigible Eloise.
