Taste of Atlanta Preparing Quite the Feast for Foodies
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor DeMarco Williams

      October 3, 2012

When it comes time to celebrate the epicurean capitals of America, Atlanta is often left out of the culinary conversation. But rather than sulk about the slight, the city’s turning the other cheek and presenting the 11th annual Taste of Atlanta from October 5 to 7. The foodie fest at Tech Square near Georgia Tech’s campus hopefully will change the minds of those who’ve ignored the city’s eclectic cuisine for so long.

Things kick off Friday with The Big Grill: Grills Gone Wild, a smoked meat lover’s dream that features tasty samples from renowned chefs like Kevin Rathbun and Ford Fry, some lively libations and a spirited performance from Yacht Rock Schooner. But that’s just the appetizer.

Saturday and Sunday’s main course are an additional cost ($25 to $85), but with more than 80 area restaurants and food trucks serving up their specialty dishes, it proves more than worth the price. From Atlanta fine-dining institutions like Ray’s and Park 75 to everyday staples Waffle House and Willy’s, each palate has something to choose. And when your stomach’s had enough, waddle on over to Inside the Food Studio, an all-day interactive experience with cooks, gardeners and bartenders, or check out one of Home Plate Main Stage’s chef battles.
