Hong Kong celebrates the New Year with an over-the-top pyrotechnic display over Victoria Harbour, and a lineup of parties to match. There will be fireworks in the kitchen, too, at these Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star properties.
Situated right on the Kowloon waterfront, dinner at one of the restaurants inside this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel will give you a front row seat to the midnight light show. All of the hotel’s restaurants are offering New Year’s Eve packages; highlights include an eight-course menu of modern French fare at SPOON by Alain Ducasse (escargot with homemade green pasta, wild strawberries with champagne sorbet), and a six- or eight-course omakase at NOBU (abalone and lobster, oyster and snow crab filo). Dinner reservations at any of the hotel restaurants include entry to the countdown party in the lobby lounge, too.
Popular Italian restaurant Tosca, at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel promises an unforgettable evening with a nine-course menu, live music, and jaw-dropping views from the 102nd floor. Not high enough? Go upstairs to the Ozone bar, on the 118th floor, for a blinged-out black-and-gold-themed party, including DJs spinning songs as the clock strikes midnight. Toasting to the new year from the highest bar in the world isn’t a bad way to start 2014. If you’d prefer something a bit more laid-back, make a reservation for a New Year’s Eve dinner buffet at The Lounge & Bar, with free flowing Louis Roederer champagne and live music.
At the nearby Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star The Peninsula Hong Kong, French institution Gaddi’s will be doing what it does best, providing an eight-course menu of luxurious cuisine that would make French culinary legend Auguste Escoffier proud. The luxe feast includes tasty bites such as duck liver terrine, baked pasta filled with black Périgord truffle, Brittany turbot with seaweed gnocchi, and a surprise dessert. What’s more, you can dance the night away thanks to the tunes of the Gaddi’s Band, complete with a pianist, double bass player and jazz singer.
