With a little over a week until the deliciously gluttonous holiday of Thanksgiving, it’s safe to say that the winter blitz of 2012 is officially in full gear. But along with the great food, this time of the year also brings a lot of stress, so we have compiled a short list of holiday cocktails sure to calm the nerves.
Thanksgiving Eve
Royalton New York, New York City
Channeling both the golden glow of fall and a classic element of Thanksgiving dinner, this tasty glass of autumnal heaven features Don Julio, Reposado, honey and ginger syrup and — the kicker — butternut squash puree. Served over crushed ice with just a hint of lemon juice, this festive libation proves a nice way to start the season off.
His and Her Spark
TY Lounge and The Garden at Four Seasons Hotel New York, New York City
These cocktails are less holiday-themed and more an overall celebration of the holiday spirit. The Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel hopes this new duo of drinks ignites a romance. Whether it’s His Spark (Hennessey, VSOP, muddled blueberries, Grand Marnier and Laurent Perrier served martini-style) or Her Spark (Stolichnaya vodka, muddled strawberries, St-Germain and Laurent Perrier Champagne shaken and served martini-style), these concoctions — tinted blue and pinkish, respectively — are a fun way to enjoy a holiday evening with a new or old flame. The two cocktails are also included in the hotel’s Ignite The Spark package, available until December 15.
Candy Cane Martini
Fresh and fun, the Candy Cane Martini doesn’t hide behind any misnomers. This simple drink of vodka, peppermint schnapps and mint garnish has but one mission — to tickle your taste buds with peppermint goodness. But the real pleasure stems from the mini candy cane resting delicately on the martini glass’ rim. Crisp and cool, this winter treat is perfect for a holiday night out, or one where you’re simply staying in at the Four-Star hotel.
