As the clock strikes midnight this New Year’s Eve, the sky above the Las Vegas Strip will outshine the neon below as fireworks shoot from the rooftops of seven Las Vegas hotels. You won’t want to miss the show, but you will want to spend the hours before it in a luxury property where the scene is just as spectacular. Here’s where to count down to midnight:
Wynn Las Vegas certainly knows how to throw a party. Make that four parties. The main event is a gala-style dinner in Lafite Ballroom featuring food from six Wynn restaurants plus an open bar and dancing. In the Four-Star hotel’s nightclubs, take your pick from three celebrity DJs; Avicii, Eric Prydz and Lil Jon will all be spinning.
This luxe Five-Star hotel boasts Five-Star restaurant Twist by Pierre Gagnaire and, on New Year’s Eve, Pierre Gagnaire himself — the world-famous chef will be in the kitchen creating four- and six-course feasts. Mandarin Oriental is also offering a $60,000 New Year’s Eve package that includes Gagnaire’s six-course seating and other over-the-top perks, such as three nights in a presidential suite.
If you want to rock the year away, a visit to The Cosmopolitan should do the trick. Hometown band The Killers returns to Las Vegas for the first time in three years with shows in the hotel’s Chelsea Ballroom on December 28 and 29. The Red Hot Chili Peppers take the same stage (plus a jumbo screen on the Strip) on December 31 at 11 p.m., while DJ Benny Benassi spins in the hotel’s Marquee Nightclub.
SHe by Morton’s, set to open this month at Crystals at CityCenter, is a “female-friendly” boutique steakhouse that doubles as a nightclub (Eva Longoria is a partner). After the invite-only opening on December 27, SHe will make its first big splash New Year’s Eve with an open-bar bash that includes a champagne toast at midnight. Snag a general-admission ticket or book a table with bottle service for $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of your party.
While Shania Twain, Caesars’ newest resident superstar, is on a three-month break, Celine Dion swoops back into The Colosseum for 29 shows, including a special New Year’s Eve performance. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj hosts a party in PURE Nightclub, and Four-Star Restaurant Guy Savoy serves a five-course New Year’s Eve menu featuring indulgences like veal three ways and foie gras.
