It’s no mystery why we chose these five spots as must-visits in April — they all take advantage of the warming weather with opportunities for outdoor adventures in spectacular settings.

      Sea Island, Georgia
Vino and golf go hand in hand at the 13th annual Wine and Golf Days at this gorgeous seaside resort on Georgia’s coast. Hosted by Cakebread Cellars, the long weekend runs from April 5 to 7. The highlights are a golf tournament held on the resort’s Seaside Course (a Tom Fazio-remastered beauty) and the following dinner reception where Cakebread wines will be flowing.

Booking the celebrated weekend means you also get to stay at either Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star The Cloister or Five-Star The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club — both represent Southern hospitality and elegance.

      Scottsdale, Arizona
Head west to experience Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa’s first culinary festival, Nirvana, from April 27 to 30. The scenic Four-Star resort on Camelback Mountain will host an array of events and tastings, many of them led by all-star chefs like Scott Conant, Todd English and Sanctuary’s own Beau MacMillan. The weekend includes a celebrity golf tournament and even a jazz brunch.

Do yourself a favor and book the Nirvana Food & Wine Weekend package for daily event tickets and three luxurious nights. Score the Camelback Casita or suite and fill up on stellar views of the surrounding desert landscape.

      Melbourne
There’s more top-notch eating and drinking to be had Down Under at the 25th annual Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, running from March 31 to April 9. This all-encompassing event is basically a big, statewide celebration of Victoria’s culinary offerings and includes classes (led by world-renowned chefs like Five-Star Alinea’s Grant Achatz and Wylie Dufresne), block parties, alfresco lunches in vineyards, a street food festival and a whole lot more.

We suggest snagging a room at Crown Towers Melbourne, a Five-Star treasure just eight minutes from the center of the festival action that delivers sumptuous accommodations and unmatched vistas from the floor-to-ceiling windows.

      Miami
There’s no better place to be inspired to get into shape for summer than the beaches of South Florida, and Fontainebleau Miami Beach is taking full advantage of that fact. The Forbes Travel Guide Recommended resort is hosting a Wellness Escape from April 7 to 9 where you can sign up for a slew of fitness classes, from yoga and meditation to Barry’s Bootcamp and Pilates. Over the weekend, one of the massive resort’s ballrooms will be filled with cutting-edge wellness brands doing demos and giving out samples.

The resort’s fitness-themed deal comes packed with a two-night stay, daily breakfast, unlimited access to the weekend’s calorie-burning fun and more.

      Highlands, North Carolina
The April Slip Away & Save package at Old Edwards Inn and Spa makes it pretty tempting to head for the hills this month. On weekdays from April 3 to 28, you can take advantage of the Four-Star hotel’s deal, which includes a two nights, two treatments at Four-Star The Spa at Old Edwards, and dinner at the elegant Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Madison’s Restaurant and Wine Garden.

April is a lovely time to experience the Blue Ridge Mountains, too, especially if you’ve been cooped up all winter. Opt for a little outdoor adventure by going on a hike, a horseback ride or a scenic kayak sojourn.
