In the cold of winter, there’s nothing better or more comforting than cozying up next to a roaring fireplace, relaxing with your feet up and having a warm drink in hand. Whether you’ve been shopping all day or exploring the sights, these hotels from Connecticut to California wine country boast fabulous fireplaces to sit in front of and unwind at the end of the day.

      Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta
Standing tall in the chic Buckhead neighborhood, this Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel boasts Southern hospitality and a lobby fireplace with plush velvety chairs, perfect for a pre-dinner glass of bubbly or cocktail like the matchatini (Pinnacle cake vodka, matcha green tea powder and fresh cream).

      The Carneros Inn, Napa Valley
Take in all the exquisiteness that Napa Valley has to offer at this Four-Star winner. Among the rolling vineyards, soak in the warmth of glowing hearths inside or outside of fine-dining restaurant Farm. Wherever you end up, do so with a Farm Sazerac cocktail (Templeton rye, brown sugar simple syrup, Peychaud’s Bitters and St. George Absinthe) in tow.

The Lodge and Cottages at Primland, Meadows of Dan, Virginia
Appreciate the simple pleasures of life while being immersed within 12,000 acres in Southern Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Come sunset, take in the floor-to-ceiling mountain views in the Four-Star lodge while relaxing by the glass-enclosed fireplace in Elements’ dining room with a signature chocolate cordial martini in hand.

      Taj Boston
Enjoy the luxury of a fireplace in 44 exquisitely designed suites at this Four-Star in the Hub. In addition to these rooms coming with wood-burning hearths in the parlor, they also feature a fireplace butler — kick back while someone else tends to the flames — and a firewood menu (seasonally from November to March).

      Hôtel Quintessence, Mont-Tremblant, Canada
Nestled at the foot of Mont-Tremblant, this Four-Star boutique hotel offers a luxurious getaway along picturesque Lake Tremblant — not to mention large wood-burning fireplaces in each room to warm you up after a day on the slopes. A wood concierge, who uses eco-friendly logs, is on hand to help get things going.

      Blantyre, Lenox, Massachusetts
A stately country house just three hours north of New York City, the Five-Star Blantyre offers a classic, elegant and romantic getaway. Rich woods, luxurious fabrics, fine furnishings and overstuffed chairs spell comfort, while many specially designed guest rooms flaunt fireplaces made from marble collected at a local quarry.

      The Mayflower Grace, Washington, Connecticut
This pastoral retreat, just an hour from Hartford, serves as an excellent hideaway any time of the year. Immerse yourself in bespoke experiences (fly fishing, cheese making) at this Litchfield County property while, at the same time, wallowing in charming accommodations complete with gas fireplaces, antique four-poster beds and thick duvets.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines, La Jolla, California
Designed in a California-Craftsman style, this Four-Star treasure’s expansive public spaces feature fireplaces, rich woodwork and comfortable leather chairs to sit in as you sip on a craft beer after an intense day on the greens of fabled Torrey Pines Golf Course. Of course, if you’d rather admire all the flickering in privacy, most suites at The Lodge have a fireplace, too.

      XV Beacon, Boston
This Four-Star hotel’s historic 1903 Beaux-Arts exterior is a thing of beauty. Inside, it’s even more difficult to take your eyes off of the contemporary furnishings, sleek design and fine art. Once you get to the 63 guest rooms, you’re blown away with additional bells and whistles, including four-poster beds, surround-sound stereo systems and gorgeous gas fireplaces.

      Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles
Surrounded by 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, Hotel Bel-Air’s grand, residential-style public spaces are meant to be enjoyed. Hover around the Five-Star hotel’s outdoor fireplaces in the gardens and terraces, indoors at the bar and lounge, or bask in the roaring marble wonder at Four-Star restaurant Wolfgang Puck. Be sure to also stay in one of the hillside Canyon suites so that you can warm up in front of your own private alfresco fireplace.
